Aliyah Day at the Knesset

To mark the Knesset’s commemoration of Yom HaAliya, Michael Freund along with twenty Bnei Menashe men and women, were invited to the Knesset by the Minister of Absorption, Penina Tamano-Shata. The Bnei Menashe who attended were all part of the group that made aliya from India this year in May/June, and they came dressed in their traditional, cultural garb, demonstrating a bit of their own culture for the people there.

 

The visit included a tour and meeting with various dignitaries. In one moving photo you can see the Bnei Menashe davening mincha (praying afternoon services) right outside the Knesset. So moving!!
