Bnei Menashe Photo Exhibit in Safed

Bnei Menashe Photo Exhibit in Safed

Our resident photographer, Laura Ben-David, has taken thousands of photographs of the Bnei Menashe, from India, to Israel, and has presented them to audiences around the world. Her latest exhibit, which tells the story of the Bnei Menashe, was on display at the launch of the GATI Galilee Festival of Arts in Safed this Passover.

Laura’s photos, previously exhibited at the AACI, Jerusalem, were devoted to the journey of the Bnei Menashe, from northeast India to Israel, and reflected three main chapters in their story: reminiscence of India, aliyah to Israel and their new life in the Jewish state.

By chance, some of the photos are of Bnei Menashe who live in Safed.

“For a change,” Laura said, “I didn’t go to Safed to take pictures…rather to display them. This is part of my Bnei Menashe exhibit for Shavei Israel, a labor of love for me“.

The exhibit is available for display at organizations, synagogues or community centers. For more information write to laura@shavei.org.
