Bnei Menashe kickboxer wins local gold medal

Congratulations to Bnei Menashe Oved Hrangchal, who won a gold medal in kickboxing for the 57 kg weight category at a competition last week!

Hrangchal, 29, representing the David Ramon Martial Arts Center in Maalot Tarshiha, was a mixed martial arts and kickboxing champion in his native India and is now a yeshiva student in the Israeli city of Ma’alot. He became a kickboxing champion in Israel last March, when he took the championship in the town of Kfar Yasif in the Galilee in an event drawing 150 competitors from clubs throughout Israel.

Religiously observant, Hrangchal has been studying in the yeshiva in Maalot, but will soon be starting a college preparatory program or mechina. Hrangchal grew up in Aizawl, a city of 300,000 in northeastern India. He made aliyah with his family in 2020 thanks to Shavei Israel. His parents, Gabriel and Ruth Hrangchal, live in Nof HaGalil, near Nazareth.
